Everything in life doesn't need to be complicated and the recipe I'm going to share today is one of those things that is simple, yet super delicious. It is a perfect example of getting brilliant result using the bare minimum ingredients. Web world is full of numerous recipes and tips for making a batch of perfectly chewy or crispy chocolate chips cookies as this is so basic. One might think why should I write up another one! I won't deny, this question crossed my mind, too. But what makes my cookies special and versatile is the replacement of few 'usually-used' ingredients without compromising with the taste. I used whole wheat flour and brown sugar instead of plain all-purpose flour and white sugar respectively. Semi-sweet chocolate chips also replaced its sweeter counterpart. Without much ado, lets plunge into the recipe.
Ingredients:
Whole Wheat Flour - 2 cups
Brown Sugar - 1 Cup ( you can use more or less based on your taste)
Butter - 3/4 Cup
Baking Powder - 1 teaspoon
Salt - a pinch
Milk - 3 tablespoons ( I used soy milk)
Vanilla Essence - 1 teaspoon

Method:
-Take butter and brown sugar in a bowl and mix them well with a whisk.
-Pour vanilla essence in this mixture and stir well.
-In a separate bowl, take flour and add salt and baking power. Mix well.
-Add the dry mixture into the wet one and mix till a dough-like consistency.
-Pour in the milk little at a time as you make the dough.
-Once dough is ready, make ping-pong size balls out of it and put them in a baking tray.*
Lightly press the balls with the tip of your finger to make them little flat.
-Pre-heat oven to 350 degree Celsius and bake the cookies for 12-15 minutes.**
-Let them cool before putting them in container. Enjoy!
Notes:
*I don't find it necessary to grease the tray or use parchment paper for this recipe. The cookies never stick to the tray.
**You can adjust the baking time depending how you want your cookies to taste. If you like it chewy, then around 12 minute is fine. But if you're like me and love it crunchy, bake it for 15-17 minutes.
